Academic Affairs

Our Mission

The Academic Affairs Commission is dedicated to advancing education and enhancing the academic experience for students at the university. This commission addresses academic-related issues and works to move our university forward through thoughtful advocacy, collaboration, and innovation, while also working as a liaison between students and administrators to ensure that students and their needs are being heard during the decision-making process.

Our Meetings

This fall, the Academic Affairs Commission is meeting weekly in Davies Center in Centennial Conference Room (320A/B) on Wednesdays at 4:30 PM.

Anyone is welcome and encouraged to come to any of our meetings and share any ideas, comments, or questions they may have! You do not need to be a member of student senate or interested in joining Student Senate to be a part of one of our commissions. In fact, we prefer a range of opinions and points of view across our commission members!

If you can't make it to our meeting time but are interested in joining our commission and/or getting in contact with us, we encourage you to send us an email at stusen58@uwec.edu or come talk to someone in the Student Senate office, which is located in Davies 220.

Our Recent Projects

  • Academic Open Forum

In order to successfully represent the students, the Academic Affairs Commission holds an Academic Open Forum 1-2 times a year. This forum is an online survey sent out to all students in which students can express any criticism, praise, ideas, or feelings they have about the efficiency of our academic system. AAC then reviews the student feedback and uses it to create projects that will improve our academic system at UW-Eau Claire.

  • College Social with the Deans

This past spring, the Academic Affairs Commission hosted A College Social on the Chippewa Terrace, and this type of social will become a regular event. The commission set up on the terrace with yard games, snacks, refreshments, and the deans of each of our colleges! It's important that our representation of our students is accurate, and a social such as this gives students a laid-back and fun opportunity to connect with the dean of their school, our commission members and director, and voice any questions, concerns, or ideas they may have!
