Our Mission

The Communications Commission aims to connect the student body with Student Senate. This commission leads outreach efforts on behalf of Student Senate by managing social media, organizing and advertising events, hosting Motivational Mondays, encouraging involvement, and helping ensure that members stay connected and engaged in meetings and events. No matter what we're doing, we're always trying to find new ways to keep students informed and connect our student body as a whole!

Our Projects

  • Motivational Monday

    Motivational Mondays are our way of starting your week off right! Every Monday morning from 8:30 to 10:00, we hand out free beverages to students on their way to class out by the fountain. This initiative is more than just a place for free pick-me-ups; it's a cornerstone of community and positivity at the outset of each week.

    If your group is interested in co-hosting an event, bringing new ideas, or sharing initiatives that can benefit the student community, we'd love to hear from you!

  • Open Forum

    Every semester, we send out an Open Forum survey to poll students for their input about different aspects of campus. This poll then gets used as a baseline for the projects produced by Student Senate's commissions throughout the semester.

    In addition to the survey, we host an Open Forum event with many of the university's departments as another opportunity to get out and interact with students to learn about what they want to see their Student Senate do.

Our Meetings

This spring, the Communications Commission is meeting weekly in Davies Center in Chancellors Conference Room (311) on Fridays at 11:00 AM.

Anyone is welcome and encouraged to come to any of our meetings and share any ideas, comments, or questions they may have! You do not need to be a member of Student Senate or interested in joining Student Senate to be a part of one of our commissions. In fact, we prefer a range of opinions and points of view across our commission members!

If you can't make it to our meeting time but are interested in joining our commission and/or getting in contact with us, we encourage you to send us an email at stusen59@uwec.edu or come talk to someone in the Student Senate office, which is located in Davies 220.
