About the Films Committee

Campus Film Series

Each semester, we present a film nearly every week on campus. Each slate of titles offers a wide variety of quality films, both classics and recent award-winners, so students and community members can all find something they will enjoy. Showings are combined with special programming that compliment the storyline and provide a different twist on classic cinema!

International Film Committee

For nearly 60 years the UW-Eau Claire International Film Society has represented a wide variety of countries that bring about a better understanding of other peoples and cultures, and instill a lifelong appreciation for the art of film.

If you are passionate about film and international productions, reach out to the Films Chair to join the committee!

Rocky Horror Picture Show

This cult classic has become a campus tradition here at UWEC! Each year we have a midnight showing of the film with all of the props and copies of the audience participating script so anyone can follow along!

Stay tuned for us to announce the showing this year!

Video Projects

In previous years, we have organized two types of film projects. These are open to campus and the community. One is the 48 Hour Video and the other is the 30 Day Video Project. For each the Film Committee selects a theme, character name, prop, and line of dialogue each film-maker must incorporate into their short film. After the submission deadline, there is a screening for all of the submissions and the audience votes on which film executed the required content best and best overall film!

Join the Films Committee!

Committee members help the Chair with film genres and movie options for students to vote on! They also help brainstorm and execute the film activities that coincide with the showings. Committee members also help with the planning of Rocky Horror Picture show and video projects!

If you are passionate about films, this is the perfect committee for you! Reach out to the Chair to join or come to a committee meeting!
