A Resource for Students

The Equity in Student Matters commission was created as a resource and as the access point for the students of marginalized identities on this campus. We will be responsible for promoting change within the institution at UW-Eau Claire to ensure equity of outcome for its students.  Together, we will work within the University to ensure that the students of marginalized identities on this campus receive the appropriate resources and support to make them successful while they are here and after they graduate. These identities include (but are not limited to): students of color, non-traditional students, LGBTQ+ students, students with disabilities, international students, students who come from low-income families or are low-income.

Q-Fest Film Festival

Q-Fest is one of two flagship programs in the Gender & Sexuality Resource Center. Each year, a student cohort travels to San Francisco for a jam-packed two-week immersion. While living in the Castro District, students attend Frameline, San Francisco's International LGBTQ+ Film Festival. Each student screens a minimum of 25 films apiece, documenting their experience via blogs, 180s (spontaneous, 3-minute reflections), and group projects. Once back in Eau Claire, the cohort begins the process of planning UW-Eau Claire's own queer film festival: Q-Fest!

Applications will open in Spring 2024 for the Summer 2024 Co-hort! If you're interested, please do not hesitate to reach out!

African Dinner 2023

Every year, the African Student Association hosts an African Dinner in the Davies Student Center. This event is an opportunity for African students and community members to come together and celebrate their Black power, along with share their experiences with those who attend!

The theme for the 2023 African dinner was Africa's Future. They expressed this in the forms of food, games, dance, live music, poetry readings, and a fashion show. Support your fellow students by attending this culturally inclusive event!
