About Us

The Center for EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) Training, Development, and Education is a cornerstone for cultural competency training at UW-Eau Claire and within the greater Eau Claire region. The center provides comprehensive training that aims to prepare a culturally competent workforce and a student body prepared to thrive in an increasingly global society.

  • Tier 1

Being a Blugold comes with the responsibility to build a stronger, safer, healthier and more inclusive campus. To help make that happen students are required to engage in an online, interactive feedback tool that focuses on equity, diversity and inclusion at UW-Eau Claire. This is our Tier 1 level of training equity, diversity and inclusion. This training is mandatory for all new students and there are no exemptions for completing it. Returning students may request this Tier One training to begin their equity, diversity and inclusion certificate journey. It will take about 50 minutes to complete this online student development program.

  • Tier 2

The Tier 2 section of the EDI training will provide students with an interactive and intentional learning environment to enhance knowledge of a specific EDI topic. Students must successfully participate in 10 EDI Tier 2 training sessions in order to move on to the Tier 3 section of the EDI training. Sessions can include in-person or online trainings, independent film/book reflections, or more immersion events such as the Civil Rights Pilgrimage, Bridge to Change Conference, or Tunnel of Awareness.

With the exception of the three required trainings(Diversity 101, Microaggressions, and Safe Space Training), students will be able to choose from a wide array of sessions to complete the Tier 2 section of the certificate. All Tier 2 sessions can be located on the Events Tab of this website, or by searching the Tier 2 EDI Training Event Tag on the main Blugold Connect + Events Page.

  • Tier 3

Tier 3 provides students with the opportunity to reflect on the learning they have done over the course of the first two tiers. Additionally, it allows students to dive deeper into a topic they are interested in or passionate about so that they may make a positive impact on campus and the various communities they are a part of.

After completing 10 sessions, students interested in earning their EDI certificate will need to complete the Tier 3 Project Proposal From. Students are allowed to decide how they would like to demonstrate their learning but will also have the option to request a consultation for more guidance. Examples of past Tier 3 Projects can be found HERE.

  • Certificate Completion

After completing all three tiers, students will need to submit the EDI Certificate Completion Form to officially be recognized and awarded their certificate.

Students who complete the certificate will have the opportunity to share their Tier 3 Projects at the University Student Excellence Awards Ceremony held in May of their completing year. This is a chance to present their hard work via an informal poster board symposium prior to the awards ceremony.
