The University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire Department of Music and Theatre Arts presents a free faculty recital by Dr. Christa Garvey in the Phillips Recital Hall.

This recital explores the profound relationship between artistic inspiration and musical creation through four French composers spanning three centuries. The program features: Marin Marais’s elegant reworking of traditional court dances; Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin, originally for solo piano, a personal memorial where each movement honors friends lost in the Great War; Silvestrini’s Trois Duos which translate impressionist paintings into sonic landscapes of light and atmosphere; and Poulenc’s luminous Oboe Sonata, his final completed work written as tribute to Sergei Prokofiev. Together, these works reveal how composers transform their muses– dance, memory, visual art, and fellow artists–into sublime musical expression.

Admission is FREE. Doors open 15 minutes before start time.
