Fall 2026 Choir Auditions (April 8th-23rd, 2026)

Open to all UWEC students, faculty & staff, & community members! There are many terrific opportunities for voice and choral students to perform in both concert and theatrical settings. Joining a choir gives you credit towards your degree and a chance to work with nationally acclaimed guest artists!

On your audition date…
​Please report to Dr. Kristie Halverson's office (HFA253) 8 minutes prior to your scheduled time.

Audition Procedure
1) Vocalizing to hear your range, timbre, agility, etc.
2) Tonal memory exercises
3) Sight singing

First year students in Fall 2026 can audition at the new student orientation during the summer! Additional auditions may also occur September 2nd-9th, 2026 as ensemble space allows.

INCOMING FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS
Auditions are held in-person in conjunction with Blugold Experience Days (new student orientation) in the summer. On your orientation day, the audition will take place on a drop-in basis between 8:00-9:00 AM; there are no assigned time slots. You will check in at Davies Center and can let the staff there know that you've signed up for an audition - they will be able to direct you to the room we'll be using.  Later in the day, you'll visit with an academic advisor to set your schedule for the fall semester - by this time, you will already know which choral ensemble you've been placed in, and its schedule. If, when you talk with the academic advisor, you determine that that choir is not a good fit for your schedule, don't fret! You can always reach out to us about being assigned to a different choir that may work better with your schedule.

CONTINUING STUDENTS Continuing student auditions for fall ensemble placements occur during the prior spring semester. If you haven't yet auditioned but are still interested in joining a choir, please fill out the choral audition application form (linked above) and reach out to one of the choral directors to schedule a quick audition at the start of the fall semester. 
Every semester, a form will come out requesting intentions for returning choir students (both current and students looking to come back to choir after some time away or for the first time). The following may happen:
● During the Spring semester, every student must complete an audition for the next school year (Fall & Spring semesters). These auditions take place during the previous Spring semester, just prior to the opening of Fall enrollment.
● During the Fall semester, only students who are looking to change ensembles or rejoin choir after time away need to audition in order to be placed for a choir in the Spring. These auditions take place late into the current Fall semester.
